A sombre single ‘track’.... I see it as a sung rhythmic short story more than a relentless ‘long’ song. A dance story.
This is a home made recording, a Work in Progress....
It’s called ’The Best In Us’ -(Getting Used To Quarantine)
All Birds singing Recorded in The Scottish Borders.
I made the song-dancestory in March after realising I had the time... when all my touring work was cancelled.
And then I recorded it couple of weeks ago.
This is a home made 'demo' recording, Work in Progress. sketch of a song written during the Corona Virus lock down Quarantine. Would have liked to add two more voices to sing and share different verses.

I cobbled together a video in 2020 to go with my song using old photos and footage I took on my phone during lockdown.

After recording and abandoning The song for a while. Returning I was surprised to realise the gloom that was here but...there’s hope too... always that yearning…

by now we’re fed up with hearing about lockdown
It’s changing us...
In good and bad ways...
I wanted to sing about it...
There are some corpses…in the song, as there have been many around the world.
And some yearning….
and perhaps there's a silver lining....for some who have not lost loved ones.
In a way to understand life we need to know death and loss…maybe it can help because it’s an inquiry into the nature of existence.

A song story I made... or it made me and this story is making us... I guess that’s why...among many other reasons...why some people whittle and carve, knit, cook or paint or.... here’s to the exhausted front line workers, nurses doctors and carers. X

I promise to release a much happier..more melodic, less gloomy less indignant song next month”

Some of us are marooned
alone, watching the distant moon.
I’m stranded and now feeling much older
some politician’s given me the coldest shoulder
They won’t help me I’m too old
and they’re saying it’s too late
I’ve had to sign a consent form saying
‘Don’t resuscitate’....


When I’m ill, alone and scared…
…It’ll be hard for doctors to see
That I’ve the same zest for life as anyone
And lots of special ability
One day….
I’m gonna die and turn to dust
To pull through this we’re going to
need each others trust
Fear can bring out
the worst and best in us.

Keeping busy, keeping cheerful
Keeping a routine
It’s hard when folks are dying
staying rosy, bright and keen
*It’s hard to promise anything
But love, in quarantine.
We’re all alone together
Getting used to quarantine...
